Ruby 1.8.7 is unfortunately required to support modernish Rails, etc. To include security fixes, we had to be 1.8.7.
1. There are ways to get 1.8.7 onto enterprise platforms these days. Also, EL6 has been out a while now which ships with 1.8.7. 2. If you purchase puppet enterprise, ruby 1.8.7 is included There was a minor bug in an init script on EL based platforms for puppet-dashboard-workers.
