Systems Engineer

This is a key Developer role at Mixbook, a profitable, rapidly-growing
startup that is changing the game in the personalized photo books /
photo products market.  In the past, the standard applications for
creating photo book products limited users to strict templates and few
options.  Mixbook has created a powerful and intuitive Flex
application that allows users to fully express their creativity with
stickers and backgrounds, fully-editable layouts and photo editing
features.  Despite the breakthroughs that Mixbook has made, the team
that works on it is still small, and you will have a huge impact on
the product.

The Systems Engineer is responsible for architecting and managing
Mixbook’s entire technical infrastructure. You will be in charge of
building, maintaining and monitoring all of Mixbook’s systems ensuring
that Mixbook continues to support its rapidly growing customer base at
the highest level.

Role:

* Reporting directly to the CTO, own Mixbook’s systems architecture.
* Database architecture and scalability.
* Deployment for Mixbook.com and various social networking
applications.
* Implement solutions for managing hardware resources

Qualifications:

* 2-20 years of increasing responsibility and experience on popular
consumer websites.  All levels of experience should apply!
* Passion for building a great consumer product that everyone will
love and use - your friends, family and relatives will be in awe!
* You go to sleep and dream of the opportunity to be responsible for
scaling the largest Ruby on Rails websites.
* VERY STRONG experience with MySQL and Unix. Your second home is the
Unix shell.
* Experience with Ruby on Rails, Capistrano, Puppet, Shell Scripting,
Memcached, Nginx, Haproxy, Passenger, Mongrel.
* Strong object-oriented development skills.
* Knowledge of EC2, S3, and the latest server technologies.
* Linux Systems Administration and Release Engineering experience
highly desired.
* Familiarity with Distributed Systems Configuration Management Tools
such as cfengine, puppet & chef
* Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent required, Masters Degree
is desired.
* Thrive on working with A-players. You’re too good to spend long
hours with B-players.
* Easy to get along with – people genuinely like you and enjoy working
with you.  And they’ll tell us that!
