I think James mentioned the Serrano, which is downtown, nice and relatively inexpensive.
Anything downtown is going to be about 20-25 minute drive or 40 minutes if you are close to the Muni light rail. Here are instructions from the facility for getting there. http://www.sfsu.edu/~meetings/location.htm This is what the campus recommends.
