I'm probably not the only one from a company that has severly restricted the budget for travel and conferences, so while I would personally prefer an East Coast locale, I could still likely swing a West Coast mini-conference if
1) it's scheduled soon so I can take advantage of early booking air fares 2) the venue is well-situated with respect to public transit so I could stay wherever has the best rates, and not shell out for an auto rental My $0.02.
