OK, can someone explain two things to me?
Audio track: If I interact with the track strip, then go one past the
mute button, I see the output volume fader slider, but here's the weird
thing I'm not getting. After importing a karaoke track downloaded from
the internet, (Legally of corse,) and importing it on a track, I see
mute, the output volume fader which is by default at 0DB, then I see the
level meter. The odd thing though is, I have meters hold peek infinent
enabled, that meter right past that volume fader keeps staying at -1DB,
and no matter what I do, I can't VO+Space to reset it. There's no way
I'm actively sending -1DB of signal to that track. For one, my phantom
power isn't on, and 2, the track's not even armed, so I couldn't be
sending that amount of level. It's virtually impossible! Why won't it
therefore let me reset it to infinity?
To further weird things out, past that level meter, on the track, I see
a second! output level volume fader which yes, I can adjust. Granted,
it's not near as sensitive as the first one, but it does work. Then, I
see the peek meter. The peek meter will! let me reset it to infinity.
So, I'm trying to make sure this karaoke track doesn't go over -12DB. I
don't wanna clip even before adding my vocals, so I need some headroom.
I can't however tell what I need to be paying attention to. That -1DB on
the first level meter that won't seem to reset after playing about one
minute of the track, or do I need to more be looking at that second peek
meter that will! let me reset it.
Is there any way I can get PT only to show me that one peek meter?
And secondly, any idea why either l or p aren't working in FloTools to
read those things to me?
Chris.
