I have a Hybrid Dr., Jon and I do it sometimes while not tracking a bunch of plug-ins. But I think you are going to do more than what I am doing man of course is not SSD but I do get away with it even with the hybrid drive. I would definitely want to deal with two drives for full-time work the Mac Mini would be a great addition for you because in my mind you have no need for an iMac or something like that. I could and I do use an extra hard drive when I am mobile I’m just not doing anything like that now. But it is no trouble to lug an extra drive or to have one possibly installed inside the Mac Mini if you could. I just prefer external drive.
