Hi,
since some weeks I often get the following error message
PSPPire doesn't answer. Close or wait.
This often happens when I change from the syntax to the output window
within PSPP, or when I scroll in the syntax window. Sometimes I wait for
more than a minute which reduces working speed until I get control
back. At the start of a session, everything runs smoothly, but after a
while—maybe a quarter of an hour—the program starts to slow down.

sav file with n=55,000 cases, > 700 variables
I was told that my Bitdefender AV could be the culprit for the slow
speed and that excluding the TEMP directory and the PSPP.jnl file from
AV scanning might help.
I did so, but don't have the impression that this helps.
I increased the work space: no effect.
Any ideas appreciated.
