It creates the text file, but there is nothing in the file when I open it. In my .sps file, the "export" command and the "print" command creates the blank text file. I've copied in the section below. There is more code above this section, but I don't think it's relative to this problem. The output viewer does not show any errors. The "write outfile" command works. It produces the .dat file with data in it.
