hello friends,

i'd like to point out a small problem in relation to psppire. it does not stop
a user from using PSPPire but sometimes, it irritates.

open any sav file containing categorical variable in psppire
go to -> variable view
choose a categorical variable
select value labels
in the popup window, there are three options (viz, value, value label and
"add/apply/remove" option).
say, 1 indicates failure.

so enter, "1" in the "value box",then press "tab"; this results in the
selection of "value label box", enter "failure" in the box. press "tab once
more. "add" button is selected.

Expected result: pressing the "enter" button will add the value label.

actual result: pressing the "enter" button does noting.

problem: most of the laptops now-a-days use a delay between keyboard use and
mousepad use. as a result, a delay occur in data entry.

could this be changed? in the very early version of PSPP (before 0.7.9), it was
possible. then some changes took place removing this feature.

please let me know if more data needed for replicating the problem.

PSPP version: psppire 0.8.5

uname -a:Linux som 4.2.0-21-generic #25~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 3 13:55:58
UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

regards,

som
