Yep - short line - short gap - short line - short gap....
You can make it less tedious by using copy and paste and the Paste Special
array paste capability may be helpful.
As for modifying an existing solid outline - yuck. Maybe draw new
dotted/dashed lines where you want them, then unlock the relevant
components primitives and delete the components solid outline and finally
use the Tools|Covert functions to add the dotted/dashed lines to the component.
