I had a Dell Latitude D820, brand new, with Vista (immediately after
Vista Launch). I used it mostly plugged in for maybe 6 months or so,
then I discovered the sleep feature. I liked it and I started to use
it for everything. Maybe 5 to 10 cycles per day. Result -> a 9 cell
battery went down the drain in 6 months. I replaced the battery and
still works. My current laptop (Dell XPS 1730) is 3 years old and
still has the original battery which performs normally.
