Yes, it is hokey at best, but things have come to this thanks to these so-called layers of protection we have to all deal with nowadays.... To me I guess it's a toss up between what is better to explain to the end user: trying to explain to them that their scanner nuked the app, or a couple extra steps for a file rename.... Both pretty much suck....
