Ah - don't get me started with AlienWare! I bought one a while ago, an Area-51 m15X. And, it has for the most part TOTALLY SUCKED! Support was even Worse. I sent it back to them not Once but TWICE already. The last time - with a HUGE list of problems - including the fact that chunks of plastic off the top around the back hinges broke off. 1st one side - then about 6 months later - the same problem over the hinge on the other side.
I sent it back to them the 2nd time - with SHIT loads of problems - and all they did was replace the entire top - with supposedly better construction around the hinges - and then proceeded to wipe the whole laptop HD and re-install the OS. That REALLY pissed me off. Yeah - I pretty much had most all of my data backed up before sending it to them - but, I had failed to transfer OFF of the HD my 3D SW license. The thing is - I had all these stability issues - and they figured a re-install of the OS (the Shitty Vista that was initially installed) would fix the problems. But, it did NOT. I complained more - and demanded that I should get my money back - or they should exchange it for a DELL - since Alienware is owned by DELL. They claimed they aren't that closely related to DELL (which I say is BS - since they now have Alienware PC/Laptops in the DEL catalogs) - and also claimed the laptop too old - so they won't give me my money back! They just say - if there's more problems - send it back to them for REPAIRS! Which, of course - is BS - since they don't really repair the stuff right! SO - my suggestion - in NO WAY Should you put money down on an Alienware. I did, initially - cause I thought they looked good - and are SUPPOSED to be top notch machines for Gamers and Content creators (myself being a 3D CG artist guy on the side). But, I was duped!
