If ProFox did not have the [OT] convention, which I strictly obey, I could understand, and I personally would not use it as a kind of water cooler for venting my spleen, out of respect for its strictly technical purpose. But Ed allows it, and the community has a kind of love-hate relationship with it, and happens to be populated with fascinating folks whom I have come to like over the years. Believe it or not I read most of the technical discussions as well. [OT] is a kind of "Cheers" where everybody knows your name, even when you adopt a pseudonym. ;) Maintaining a blog isn't something I've taken to yet though I've pondered the possibility. And the truth Bill is you simply hate freedom of speech for people who come from different perspective, and view life's "resources" as altogether too few to allow it for people you deem "uncreative." The cognitive dissonance between, on the one hand, your eager anticipation of a free internet in, say, China, and panting for regulation and control over "annoying" voices here on this list, on the other, is... well, simply delicious! Even so, I enjoy reading your reflections and animadversions. > and while you can put in an earplug, you know it's happening and > others are listening, which frustrates the forum in different ways. Its preservation, therefore ought in no case that can be avoided, to be committed to the guardianship of any but those whose situation will uniformly beget an immediate interest in the faithful and vigilant performance of the trust."
