I'm not blaming anyone. I'm blaming EVERYONE D and R who both seemed to give this 'free market' far more freedom than it deserved. Mixed economies are the worlds successful ones - ones where fee capitalism is allowed to reign within the limits of regulation. It is why Australia isn't in the mess you are in. Forget the partisan politics. Your economic failure is the product of decades of faulty financial philosophy and under-regulation.

You have a premise (Republicans are against all regulation) and an a priori conclusion (the mortgage mess was Republicans' fault because they're against all regulation), and you won't let any evidence, for example, that Democrats were the obstacle to regulation specifically at the heart of this mortgage mess, which their "affordable housing" policies created, get in between. You see no hypocrisy in Barney Frank declaring that there was no evidence of any systemic problem whatsoever just 3 years ago when Republicans were sounding the alarm and trying to pass new regulation to prevent exactly what happened, now grandstanding on the issue, and benefitting politically from the same stupid unthinking assumptions cling to.
