The code that's been published will be free in perpetuity, as it is licensed under the GPL v 2.0. However, that doesn't insure that the authors may decide to release later versions under a more restrictive license. However, community updates and improvements to the current code (now beta 0.2x) will also have to be licensed and available under the GPL as well.
