I used the previous version of Ubuntu and now I am using the 8.04 and 
*really* like it.  A while back there was a thread about Bill Gates 
complaining about some M$ software and someone on this list asked why 
Bill Gates didn't focus on those problems to improve the Windows 
experience.  From my perspective Ubuntu was paying attention and 
addressed many of those problems in their software.  It is a breeze to 
install or remove literally tons of software.  The computer boots up and 
shuts down very quickly.  - just to name two examples.
