I think Stephen is annoyed that Apple is silently bundling unwanted
apps rather than the alerts themselves.

Apple do write *terrible* Windows applications (maybe deliberately?).
Look at QuickTime for Windows - It's hideous!  I'm sure the brushed
steel look is wonderful on a Mac but this is Windows and it should
look like a Windows app.  iTunes is almost as bad.
