I've recently gotten a number of invitations to join these "social networks" and having been living under a rock for awhile wanted to get your opinions on this as I know very little about them other than superficially. Are they just more hype or is there really something worthwhile there? Keep in mind, that for me, the last thing I want is more spam to my email address, and another bunch of sites I need to read everyday to "keep up". Since I think they are "free", you could argue there's nothing to lose, but I'm of the mindset that I only do stuff when there's "something to gain" rather than "nothing to lose", since most of the time, the "nothing to lose" ends up not exactly being true, as it's one more thing in my life I end up having to manage in one form or another..
I look forward to your thoughts pro or con about these things.
