I have Vista Ultimate with the MSDN subscription, and have a 2gb RAM, P4
2800 PC dual booting between 2000 Pro and Vista. I will play with Vista
once in a while, but after a while the UAC had to be turned off, thus
defeating the "new and improved security" from M$. I saw no advantage for
me with Vista other than the eye candy. Then again, I likely did not give
it the cance it may deserve. But, on the "third hand", with the specs of
the PC I ought not have seen the degradation in performance experienced
under Vista. Both XP Pro and 2000 Pro run far faster on similar hardware
specs. For me the eye candy is not worth the performance degradation.

Perhaps in 2-3 years I will be less resistive to Vista, when PCs start
having 4gb RAM available to help handle Vista overhead demands. I went
through the same thing with XP at first. I stayed on 2000 Pro as long as I
cound, and by the time XP SP1 had been out a while, just before SP2 hit, I
began to move into the World of XP, and beefed all my PCs to 2gb RAM (they
were all 512mg before). But, for now I am solidly in the XP Pro camp, and
will wait for Vista to mature a bit more before drinking the Vista Koolaid.
That said, my VFP apps were able to run without any modifications under
Vista, which I am very pleased with.

I'm running Vista Ultimate and loving it.

Vista business will do what you need. I understand the 'stick to XP'
mindset, but Vista is not without its' charms and IMHO isn't the beast
everyone likes to think it is.

Vista? You're going to regret this.

I told the same thing to a guy last year and now he's switching to XP
Professional.
