I went ahead and uninstalled Qemu and installed VirtualBox.  Note that
the version in the repository has a problem, but downloading from the
web page worked great.  Nothing could have been easier.  I am going to
do further testing and I will probably be using Ubuntu with XP in
VirtualBox as my main system.
