If it ran VFP I might consider a Mac. but as it wont run much of use to me
there is no point.

Apple probably tests the Mac software before they sell it.  Also, Apple
probably cares about product quality and company reputation. Apple probably
realizes that selling garbage will not improve their image in the market
place. Amazon says one of their largest selling products this Christmas
season is the Mac laptop.
