Nope.  It's lousy.  Sloppy writing.  Being Catholic doesn't excuse 
them.  Some of the greatest writing the the world has been by 
Catholics.  Compare this article to anything by Thomas Aquinus, for 
example.  Not that everything could be a "Summa Theologica," of course, 
but I do think this writer was just being lazy.

IMHO.
