Is the target machine set to allow remote access? 3. Is there a 3rd party firewall involved, on either machine? 4. What's the network between the two? There are numerous suggestions and I have tried them all. I can't believe something that works so well on other versions of the OS are so difficult here. No two windows machines in the world are configured the same. You just need to work out what's blocking this one. Also, when I set a fixed IP address and name servers, Windows 7 keeps > changing it back to DHCP. Can you turn off DHCP for one computer? > Yes, you can. Can the remote machine ping the target?
