Thank you, Ken.  That word stopped me, too.  At first, I thought it was
an elaborate type, but it appears twice in the article.

Google tells me it is urban-speak, also written as "fondle-slab", and
means, mostly in Britain, a tablet (slab) device whose owner is
inordinately fond of it.

I knew technology was passing me by, but this is ridiculous!
