Hey Dave - thanks for that response. I kinda figured that is what would
happen - that it was only a backup. But, was just curious to know to confirm
it.

The wireless link is no different to a fixed cable link to the operating
system and the answer about increased throughput is No.

In order to get more bandwidth from two internet connections you need to do
what is called "pairing" and that is a function of high end routers.

The secondary link will simply act as a back-up and take over should the
primary link (whatever connection that is) fails.

Since Eurico asked the question - I was curious about something else in
relation to the question. If you have both a Wired and a Wireless connection
with the Laptop - does that mean you will actually have more Internet
through put and access will be faster???

No, you will end up with two live connections.

Usually the delay on the wireless means that the ethernet connection is the
first to connect but this isn't always true as it depends on the speed with
which the DHCP server dispenses IP addresses.

If the two cards are on separate networks then you end up with 2 x ip
addresses, similar to if you assign an additional ip address to a cable
connected card and requests will be routed to both networks.
