No, you will end up with two live connections. Usually the delay on the wireless means that the ethernet connection is the first to connect but this isn't always true as it depends on the speed with which the DHCP server dispenses IP addresses.
If the two cards are on separate networks then you end up with 2 x ip addresses, similar to if you assign an additional ip address to a cable connected card and requests will be routed to both networks.
