Nope but it's going to save you somewhere down the road. The place I'm at now 
uses source control of a certain manner. It's all manual and subject to foibles 
of the programmers/developers but it is something. 

I wouldn't recommend VSS at this point to anyone. Too many better and easier to 
use options are out there now.
