I'm using the NxtGen bulbs which I'm sure are available in most countries just
need to Google them..

They have been installed for a little over a year. We looked at about 10
different lamps and trialled them all during the building process and found
that these :

a. Have the best warm feel light
b. have good spread
c. Look good
d. Are dimmable

We've used some from Ikea outside and in the boys playroom where we didn't want
dimmers and they work well and are approx. $6 (US) each.

What brand of light bulb are you using? How long ago did you install them?

I've had an extension built and as part of that we added LED lamps instead of
halogen. The new warm dimmable ones are really good, only 4 watts and the
coverage area has really maxed out in the last year. We have had one failure
out of 34 spotlights and we have now retro fitted them in every other lamp that
would normally take a screw in bulb and will do the remaining old part of the
house when we decorate.

The only real problem I have had is making sure if you have dimmable bulbs that
you have a good dimmer switch. Our electrician tried three before we found one
we were happy with.

Yes the up front cost is far more than a traditional bulb but the 80+% (5 watts
as opposed to 35 watts) reduction in electricity should compensate in the long
run.

If you are interested I could take a couple of photos at night to show you
coverage etc....

I was wondering how many people here have replaced their light bulbs with LED
bulbs.     I've read that there is a high failure rate and infant mortality
rate.   Looking at the reviews on Lowes and Home Depot, it [excessive quoting
