I'm assuming that your NAS has media streaming server built in otherwise you'll need to add a third party program to it.
I use a dedicated boxee box only needs an HDMI port and a network connection. Don't try using wireless if you're trying to stream movies, the judder and frame drops will be painful. Go as fast as you can, I have replaced my 100mb switch with Gigabit. http://www.dlink.com/us/en/home-solutions/boxee-box/at-a-glance I'm not sure about the new Boxee TV device... however my TV (Samsung), Blu Ray player (Panasonic) and Amp (Denon) all have media streaming clients built in...
