It's a Clipper compiler, with additional OO extensions.  Much like
comparing VFP to Fox.
I use it on one of my products (which I'm re-writing in C#...), which
originally started life as a DOS Clipper app.

Be wary of Alaska.  They promise the moon but deliver very little.
I've been hearing about how wonderful their upcoming version is for
about 5 years.

They seem to be targeting VFP people now, which surprises me as
Xbase++ is nowhere near as complete as VFP (no report engine, no
inline sql or views, poor designer/development tools, poor sql
passthrough, limited visual controls, ...).
