Hi, Jeff: I'd respectfully suggest this is NotFox and it's NotTechnical, it's Political. It's more appropriate OT than NF, in my opinion. Just my opinion, though; feel free to post your replies as you feel appropriate. I'm surprised you haven't heard about this before. Do a Google search for H1B visa or start with: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H-1B_visa I've worked with companies employing people with H1B visas for some time. Some are good, some not so much. Some are taken advantage of by their employers. The article above suggests that it's a bit more balanced now. As an independent consultant, in the last few years, I've worked with developers working in their countries from China, the Philippines, Germany, even Canada! It's a globalized world out there. On the internet, no one knows you're from Boise. Or Burma. Or Bangalore. We're going to compete with these folks whether it's on home turf or on the web. I think the program was a well-intentioned attempt to let in a limited number of "experts" in under-resourced industries. I think it has been misused by industries to get cheap labor and drive down costs. If you're not happy with the program, you ought to let your Congress-people know how you feel about it. -- Ted Roche Ted Roche & Associates, LLC http://www.tedroche.com _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: ProFox@leafe.com Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/CACW6n4sK=xy0myhj9zp+kjfwrwyjde-wg8s5erxja9zxp+x...@mail.gmail.com ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
