When they added that stuff to OS X a few years ago, I played with it for a day or so until the "gee whiz" factor wore off, and then went back to the way I always worked.

Funny how those effects run fine on a 4-year-old G4 system with a stock graphics card from that time. Will Aero really require the sort of graphics horsepower you describe?
