Alan,
I know it is still Beta code, but time is running short now and I haven't
seen any significant increase in speed since the beta back in April -
although the number of bugs has significantly decreased I will admit.

With Lots of reviewers still sitting on the fence with regards to ultimate
performance and maybe even a further delay looming before the final release
then it looks like the final product won't be universally applauded even
though lots of "techies" will certainly rush out the buy the latest and
greatest offering as a "must have" acquisition.

As for me, I'll stick with XP/2K just for now even though I have VFP9 and 7
working on Vista no problem until I can justify a dual core/multi processor
motherboard/chip setup or a Mac laptop that can run everything (letch
letch).

Personally, I think that hardware needs a breathing space to catch up with
the software now, for at least the first time in about 15 years. Maybe when
there is sufficient horsepower to power Vista an an entry level machine will
the market finally accept it in great numbers.

In another 10 years I guess we'll look back on Vista as "that great old
operating system" no doubt.

Interesting times!

It's beta code, full of debug stuff presumably. Also nobody is forcing
anyone to use the Aero UI, you can make it look like Windows 2000 if you
want. Servers look like Windows 2000, the Media Center edition has the eye
candy.
