I managed to turn the boot chime off with Tiger. Not sure what it did in openfirmware, I did notice the boot-volume setenv was changed to 1, I think I had it at 3. There is need to install Linux just yet. (I had some problems using usb ports on this G5). Thanks for the links! Best Regards, -peter
