A Postfix SMTP server will set the client name to "unknown", and other software may use this mismatch in a reputation score. > That's saying, the IP does have a PTR like web.host.com, and > web.host.com points to that IP correctly. Is there any software that cares whether the web.example hostname matches the PTR record? I use distinct IP addresses for mail and web, so I haven't run into this problem.
