I beg to differ. A proxy changes the source IP address, whereas a
router does not. 

How would Postfix know that there is a proxy in front, as opposed
to a router? A proxy has to pass the remote SMTP client address/port
details, and that requires a protocol.

In that case, use two SMTP services, one that is proxied and one
