in postfix logs i see lots of these sort of entries

        postfix/postscreen[46378]: PREGREET 182 after 0 from 
[137.220.233.97]:33196:

the backslashed/numeric strings vary from message to message

afaict, postscreen has a perfect batting record here; not a one of them ever 
gets past it.

idle curiosity ... what are those strings?  command injection attempts, i 
presume.

looks like octal expansion, but i haven't managed to translate to 
human-readable text form to see what those are

is there a postfix, or related, tool to translate & see?
