I think you have me confused with someone else. I did not say anything was insane. I simply pointed out the problems that will be hit at that size since that is larger than most mail relay sites. > So could we concentrate on answering my question or solving the problem at > hand? I don't see any problem with doing it. You want it. Okay. Then do it. Just turn it on. Enable it. Use it. Go for it! Increase the limits to allow it. Ensure that your spool directory has enough storage space to queue the message. Ensure that your system has the RAM in order to do it. No problem. Just do it! > My system needs to accept mails up to 150MB (as of today, in the > future it will likely be more). SMTP can do that. TCP can as > well. The Internet certainly can. You will catch more flies with honey than vinegar. A little niceness on the net will go a long way. > Handling a couple of GB with today's computers and networks is a > piece of cake. You stated that your destination was Gmail and that Gmail would handle message sized up to 150 MB in size. Okay. Good enough. You have a tested path between your site and another where you need to transfer large message sizes. If that works between your site and there then that's okay with me. Just do it. I personally am using OpenDKIM as a milter. It works well for me. My message size limit is at 50 MB presently. I could crank my message size limits up to 150 MB and try a test. But I would not expect to see any significant problem. Just do it! Bob
