Clarifying:

The relay did not reject the message. The MDA did the rejection. Is this
correct ?

How do I stop the empty sender address at the relay ?

Postfix deferred the message, because it accepted it in the first place.
Then Postfix - trying to deliver the message - passed it on to
LOCAL_MDA[aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd], which rejected it. Therefore Postfix deferred
the message, because LOCAL_MDA[aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd] responded with a 4xx error
code. So postfix will keep the message in queue and retry to deliver it.

For IP addresses not in $mynetworks, Postfix should outright reject the
message without trying to deliver it.
