hi guys.

On a very basice deployment would simply "fixing" generic
maps control "FROM" address? Say:
root m...@mine.dom (for system root to send mail)
? And if so then is it possible to tell Postix to do in such
a way that recipient will se:
  From "It's me <m...@mine.com>"
generic_maps replaces an email address. To (also) replace the 'It's
me' display name, you would need a header_checks REPLACE action.

Hi & thanks.
I wonder if I was a bit vague - I do not want to replace "It's me" but I just simply want to add it.
Having in my basic setup only generic "fixed" to:
root m...@mine.dom
and in 'aliases' very same line, I get one simple goal achieved - all mail 'root<=>root' a real user m...@mine.dom gets. Then that real user in the inbox sees an email "From m...@mine.dom" - if I was to tell all the truth: I am hoping that on each 'box' I could use a variable which Postfix would add to "from". I'd hope - if not a pipe dream - that something like "From My $hostname <m...@mine.dom>" would be the end result, different for each box/host
Will it still be "header_checks REPLACE action" for that?
many thanks, L.
