Hello,
  I posted a message using an account that has been active for several
years. It was rejected with the results shown below.
  I cannot send ANYTHING to the mailing list, or the majordomo address;
ALL messages are rejected with equal certainty.

  I see the error message. I do not understand why the HELO command was
rejected. Here is what I get with a telnet session:

$ telnet mail.cloud9.net 25
Trying 168.100.1.7...
Connected to mail.cloud9.net.

220 english-breakfast.cloud9.net ESMTP Postfix
helo sma-inc.us
250 english-breakfast.cloud9.net
quit
  No complaints here.
  What is the problem?
