Last month it was 20 years ago that I started writing Postfix code.

Having done a little digging among old files, I've just realized that I've been using Postfix since autumn 2000 (or perhaps earlier).

I don't even think I was aware at that time that Postfix was a relatively new piece of software.
It just worked.
And I could understand its configuration - which I more than I could ever really say about sendmail.

I can't remember ever having to upgrade or fix anything quickly because of security bugs (or other bugs, for that matter) in Postfix. And that is a really important point for a small server that does not have a staff standing by 24/7 ready to fix things at short notice.

I also appreciate the effort that has been done to keep things backwards compatible: every Postfix upgrade I've done has been a trouble-free success.

And with the excellent documentation and the excellent support provided here, Postfix is a true model of high quality software.

Thanks!
