Chances are that by the time somebody figures out that their messages aren't being sent or received, then gets around to telling YOU about it, the problem is likely to have been happening for at least two days. This comes from practical experience ... that's usually the amount of time it takes for users of systems that I manage to decide that there might be a local problem and send me a demand to fix it. If the queue lifetime is only one day in that situation, there will be no possibility of fixing the problem and getting the message delivered. I understand the motivation behind the change you're proposing, but if you do this, be prepared for really irritated users. Thanks, Shawn
