It does not hurt. The DNS reply is cached in the DNS server.

That is the default setting. It avoids problems with non-standard
SMTP implementations (tests, appliances, etc.).

I would not recommend the bare_newline, non_smtp, or pipelining
tests unless you are willing to accept delays similar to greylisting.
