Well, but "postdrop" sees a different setting for config_directory,
either via the MAIL_CONFIG environment variable inhertied from
master (via postfix -c "/some/other/directory start") or specified
via "sendmail -C /some/other/directory ...".

As explained before, that will not work reliably, you need to delete
the symlink and configure everything to use the default /etc/postfix.

It was also mentioned that as a short-term work-around, you could
list the symlink's location in main.cf under alternate_config_directories.
