Yes, that's how Tbird requests a read receipt.

You would use something like:
/etc/postfix/main.cf:
    smtpd_command_filter = pcre:/etc/postfix/command_filter


/etc/postfix/command_filter:
    # remove return receipt requests for example.com
    if /example\.com/
    /^(RCPT\s+TO:\s*<.*>.*)\s+NOTIFY=\S+(.*)/     $1 $2
    endif


The above is based on the examples given in
