Hi, I'm trying to set up a secondary mx.
Can I configure postfix to accept mail only when primary is offline?

Instead implement equivalent anti-spam measure on both primary and
secondary systems, with working recipient validation on both to
avoid backscatter.

Some systems will be unable to reach your primary mx even when it
is generally available, they should still be able to reach your
secondary.

Thanks of you response.
Anyway do you know if Postfix can be configured as i need/want.

how do you imagine that?
others did that mistake in the past

that you, your monitorings or your both MX reach each other don't say anything about a 3rd party try to deliver mail because there a hundrets of network troubles leading to a machine not reachable from one location but from 10 others

that's why you implement redundacy

frankly if you don't want to make it proper *forget* the idea of a backup MX at all - every sending server will try *some days* to deliver a message if the MX is not reachable, if not: fine, you killed a bot zombie delivery
