I *JUST* found that the change was introduced between
postfix-2.12-20141009 (working) and postfix-2.12-20141011 (non-working)
I guess it must be this:
Feature: support to fall back to an unauthenticated TLS
security level ("may" or "encrypt) when the Postfix SMTP
client cannot establish the preferred authenticated TLS
security level ("dane", "dane-only", "fingerprint", "verify",
or "secure").
