OK, have made those changes, but still get the error.

Yes Wietse, OpenSSL is in two places:
locate bin/openssl
/usr/bin/openssl
/usr/local/ssl/bin/openssl
I usually install things in /usr/local/ as this stops any updates from Apple
overwriting my installs and configurations.
I apologise if I’ve made stupid mistakes in the configuration!
